Promoted Work: Alvin Booth's "Osmosis" - Gallery 1
Alvin Booth's exhibition "Osmosis" opens today at Gallery 1. His work is both provocative and carefully crafted. Gallery 1 has also written up a great introduction to his history and work.
For those not living in the Netherlands, the full exhibition can be seen online and prints are available to order.
You can find the gallery here:
Promoted Work: Ryan Walter Wagner
Ryan Walter Wagner hails from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Ryan never gets caught up in single subject - he is the kind of guy who lives through his eyes; his camera captures the world as it moves past him.
You can find his main site here and his blog here.
Promoted Work: Alvin Booth's "Osmosis" - Gallery 1
I find it interesting that the most compelling exhibitor of provocative and aesthetically beautiful photography hails from the small city of Arnhem in the Netherlands - Gallery 1 has now shown a string of some of the best contemporary photographers.
This Sunday is the opening of Alvin Booth's "Osmosis"; if you are in the Netherlands, be sure to mark this off on your calendar. You can also see the collection online here.
Promoted Work: REVS - Issue #7 "Blaze"
Promoted Work: Jordan Sweke
Jordan Sweke is a young South African photographer based in Cape Town.
The thing I love about his work is the sense of freedom in his subjects and their connection to the earth; anybody who has had the privilege of traveling to the natural areas along the coast of the Western Cape should be familiar with the pull of the environment, the desire to just run around naked and soak it all in.
I got to sit down with him this week and I hope that this will lead to many more connections to young South African artists.
Make sure to follow him on tumblr (and give South Africa some love).
Promoted Work: Lee Nutter
Lee Nutter is a fashion photographer based in Sydney, Australia. He enjoys telling short stories with some of Sydney's more creative models. He seems to be in his element with a free and edgy style.
Lee's main site can be found here and I recommend following him on Tumblr; he can also be found on Facebook and Flickr.
Promoted Work: Juner Aurelien
Juner Aurelien works as an art director and photographer; he is competent in his commercial work but it's in his personal, photographic diary where he really comes into his own.
Working in stark black and white, his work ranges from documentary and street photography to abstract compositional studies; whatever his subject is, his work retains a very strong personal voice. I recommend going through his diary page by page.
I'm really interested in seeing his future work.
Promoted Work: Craww
Craww uses paint, ink, graphite and charcoal to create beautiful and otherworldly portraits of melancholic girls, crows and skulls. He invites you into his strange world with careful craft and fine detail.
He follows tangled threads and discovers hidden undercurrents.
Craww works out of Sheffield, England; you can find his work on his main site, Facebook and an extraordinary instagram account.
Promoted Work: Talos Buccellati & Venera Kazarova
This is a beautiful collaboration between the photographer Talos Buccellati and the very talented, Russian artisan Venera Kazarova who makes the intricate paper cut creations worn by the models. Both are fond of "volume and pure shapes"; Venera's nature inspired forms are complimented by Talos's striking portraits.
Other contributors to this project are Alice Anselmi (stylist @ Atelier Caraco); Mayumi Oda (make up); Lera Kvasuoka, Margherita Raso & Romane Douillet (models).
