Promoted Work: Animae / Treats!
Last week I received two publications in the mail; while the two are completely different in content and material, they both gave me the same thrill and I thought I would write a short post about them.
The strength of independent publishing is in its diversity and its focus on delivering its own message as opposed to just being a vehicle to serve advertising. Please support indie publishers!
Animae
Don't let the newsprint and rough edges fool you, Animae is beautifully crafted; the paper is a perfect fit. This publication has this seamless way of weaving the photography, design, illustration and words together into a very unique style. It's edgy and sexy; analogue and tactile; graphic and considered.
Animae is priced at £5 and is still available; it can be ordered here.
Treats!
Treats! is very accomplished; someone has thought about how it feels in your hands (very nice), the weight of the paper and the layout but far more important is the nature of the content. This is no shiny glamour mag with vacant, plastic subjects or unidentifiable, shallow photographers; it's a collection of very good photographers that approach their contributions with their own style and integrity.
Treats! is available to order as a subscription or individually (physical and digital) from their website; it's worth the price.
